Open Country AU
Send an official suburb and state. You get a suggestion for the Aboriginal place name and an acknowledgement, and other options if more than one group is named or the sources do not agree.
Limits
- This is not the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia. This is not a digitised Horton map.
- This is not a National Native Title Tribunal search.
- The list is incomplete. Suburbs we do not have return
uncertain.

Coverage
We use the ABS 2025 local government areas as the work list. Some have an entry already. The rest still need one. Where ABS left an Unincorporated leftover, we list the places in it. This is not a Traditional Owner register, and not every suburb in a council.

Suggest a name
We do not have names for this council yet. If you know the Aboriginal name for a suburb, or who should be named, write it below and link to a public page that already says so, such as the council website. We will check that page before we add it. This is only a suggestion. It does not identify Traditional Owners.
